Katherina Penaloza moved to Melbourne from a small town in the jungle of Perú where she established a yoga studio, in Kapievi Ecovillage, a beautiful and natural lodge in the jungle.
Katherina is a certified Power Yoga instructor, registered with Yoga Alliance. She has also studied Ashtanga, Anurasa, Vinyasa and Hot Yoga styles. Kathe enjoys guiding students to find connection through an enriching yoga practice that integrates breath and movement. She is inspired by a unique fusion of her own creativity immersed in a soul yoga flow.
Kathe encourages moving from within and brings playful energy, joy and grace to her classes. Although she loves the physical practice, her background mostly lies in the spiritual practice and principles of meditation and natural healing therapies. She believes that smiling as you practice helps relax the body and lift the spirit.
Kathe trained in Transcendental Meditation at Maharishi Institute when she was 15 years old and incorporates guided meditation and chanting mantras in her yoga classes.
Vanessa trained at Bartuccio’s Dance and Promotion Centre in all styles of dance and musical theatre. She has also gone on to continue her training at numerous master classes and dance conventions gaining inspiration from leading choreographers in Australia, the US and UK.
She has enjoyed a career as a professional dancer, working in television and film, at various corporate functions, sporting events, fashion parades and fundraising events, and as a cheerleader for the NRL Melbourne Storm.
Vanessa has been teaching dance for nearly 20 years predominantly in jazz, ballet, tap and musical theatre, and loves sharing her passion for dance and fitness with her students. This passion extends to the development, delivery and assessment of accredited courses at Spectrum Dance, namely the; Certificate IV in Dance, Diploma of Musical Theatre and Diploma of Dance.
With her background in dance and fitness, Vanessa is extremely excited to be teaching the dynamic Barre Attack program. She particularly loves the way it delivers results and health benefits whilst allowing you to have fun while you work out.

Rita Madou: It was after her mum’s suggestion, Rita started her first yoga class in 2000. Rita considers herself blessed to have studied with many great yoga teachers including Richard Jan Anderson, Maurice Mettler, Will Lau and Lawrence Pradhan while in Hong Kong. She has furthered her training and practice with Lianne Metcalf since she moved to Melbourne in 2010. Lianne inspired Rita to start her yoga teachers’ training and Rita became enthralled with the philosophy of yoga as a way of life.
During the last decade and a half, Rita has attended many training and workshops with world renowned yoga masters : David Life, Sharon Gannon, Ana Forrest, Sri Dharma Mittra, Desiree Rumbaugh, Andrey Lappa, Simon Borg Olivier, Seane Corn, Sarah Powers.
Students always comment how much fun Rita's classes are. She loves to create a space of exploration and potential transformation for all her students and advocates that no class will ever be the same as the next.

Marie Alessi Yoga teacher - Is a well known around bayside as a highly experienced group fitness instructor. Marie has been a student of Yoga for 10 years and gained her certification 2 years ago. She is a kind, nuturing teacher who offers our students space to explore the pose and offers experienced guidance in alignment and injury management.

Maddy is our youngest teacher but an old soul! Only recently gaining her teacher qualification, Maddy has a natural flair for teaching yoga - probably because she is incredibly passionate about her own practice and learning. Maddy offers a lovely, calming vibe to her classes, has a ready smile and is such a pleasure to have on our teaching team!.

Imogen Miller Studio Owner - teaches yoga, Pilates and Barre Attack.
Imogen has been working as a teacher of group fitness for 22 years but experienced her first yoga session as an 18 year old. She was struck by the silence and stillness of Savasana and has been pursuing elements of yoga practice ever since. IN 2005 she was introduced to Pilates Katrina Edwards at Aligned for Life. She continues to train under Katrina and now International teacher, Sara Colquhoun. After many years as a yoga student , Imogen completed her 200 hour teacher training with Power Living Australia and has completed her 350 hours with more Power Living training, Yin teacher training with Hugh Lee and the international Yogini - Karmini Desai (Amarit method of Yoga Nidra). Imogen is passionate about fitness, wellness and bringing yoga, pilates and now the amazing program of Barre Attack to the local people of Beaumaris and Bayside. She lives in Beaumaris with her husband and 3 children.

Vic began her Yoga journey 14 years ago when she started attending regular Hatha Yoga classes. With a scientific background Vic enjoyed the anatomical principles of the asanas (physical postures), however the sense of wellbeing and deeper connection between mind, body and spirit discovered through Yoga prompted Vic to take her practice to the next step, studying for the Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching.
Vic creates a warm friendly environment with classes focusing on developing strength, flexibility and greater mindfulness through correct alignment. Vic’s classes encompass vinyasas (flowing sequences), static asanas (postures), which help to uncover inner stillness and pranayama (breathing practices) enabling students to feel both energized and relaxed with a greater sense of peace of mind.
Vic also feels passionate about enabling children to experience the gift of yoga, completing an Advanced Course in Children’s Yoga and drawing on her Youth Work and Health Promotion background she creates fun and creative classes enabling children to feel healthy, strong and happy in their own bodies and minds.
Claire Barker-Hemings is a dynamic barre and Pilates instructor.
Originally from the UK, Claire moved to Melbourne in 2007 with her husband, son and dog. Since her arrival in Melbourne Claire has continued to develop her skills and share her passion for getting people moving.
Claire has been teaching fitness and dance for over 20 years! During her career she has taught virtually everything in fitness from dance inspired classes to athletic inspired circuits. In recent years Claire has specialised in aquatic training and Pilates instruction and is now concentrating her efforts on educating others by sharing her wealth of knowledge and years of experience
Lisa has been involved in the practice of yoga and meditation methods for many years and also studied counselling in an effort to better understand how stress is linked to body and mind.
With a thirst for knowledge and a calling to bring these tools to the people she completed her 200hrs certification in yoga teaching and furthered her study with Yin training and most recently yoga Nidra meditation training.
With a combination of these teachings she has a better understanding of how the body reacts to various day to day stresses and how we can work towards quietening the mind and giving back to our tired and stressed bodies.
Roz has been teaching Yoga for 2 years and is a certified 500 hour trained Yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance. She has also worked for the past 10 years as a group fitness instructor across Melbourne. Since completing her initial teacher training through Power Living, Roz has gone on to complete her Yin training, 150 hours through Yoga Social, Shiva Rea Immersions and many other courses as she immerses herself in the practice of yoga. Roz brings a strong and powerful practice to Sanctuary Beaumaris as well as a wicked sense of humour!
